What is AWASH?

The African Women's Alliance in Support of Health (AWASH) is a charitable organization dedicated to bringing quality of life back to the women of Sierra Leone. When our mission began, a major component of our endeavor was to provide resources for the prevention and surgical remedy of vesicovaginal and rectovaginal fistulas.

While helping provide fistula repair to Sierra Leonean women, we realized that there were many other facets of their everyday lives that were in dire need of repair. We began looking at what else we could do to help educate about preventive care and in the case of complications, help mend these women - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

As a result, AWASH evolved into an initiative dedicated to improving healthcare and developing programs that educate and promote women’s health and independence in Sierra Leone.

100% of each donated dollar contributes directly toward patient care and/or hospital infrastructure.
