Imagine being pregnant and in hard labor in a village miles away from a doctor or hospital.

Imagine your birth canal has been destroyed due to the labor and you become incontinent.

Imagine you are then shunned by your family, driven out of your home, and denied any chance of working or living a normal life due to this injury.

In the time it takes you to read these statements, as many as 30 women in countries like Sierra Leone will experience this. The injury is called vesicovaginal fistula, or VVFa complication of childbirth that can destroy their lives.
